The problem
Generic recipe apps ignore the fasting days, feast days, and dietary observances that matter to a practicing Catholic household, forcing users to cross-reference every recipe and calendar by hand. DailyBread needed to bake the liturgical calendar into the product itself, not bolt it on as an afterthought.
The build
Built in React Native for iOS with a Django API and PostgreSQL database. Meal planning, recipe search, and shopping-list generation are all aware of the liturgical calendar by default — fasting and abstinence days, feast days, and the seasons around them — so the constraint disappears into the product instead of becoming friction.
The result
DailyBread is live in the App Store with an active user base using it for weekly meal planning.
